About the Artist - Photographer Julia Parker

Julia Parker’s love of photography began at the age of six in the darkroom with her Grandfather. As she watched faces slowly appear on photo paper in the developing tray she discovered the magic of capturing a moment in time that can forever be brought to life. The loss of her mother at a young age sowed the seeds for her lifelong interest in the parent/child relationship.

When Julia Parker’s own children were born, she began to examine this parental bond through the lens of her camera. As each fleeting moment passed with her children, the importance of immortalizing the essence of this relationship became more pressing.

Now with her children fully grown and a thirty-year career of capturing these relationships in photography, she cherishes the moments in time captured with her daughters. Her hope is to give this special gift to other parents and those with loved ones.

The photographer Julia Parker, sometimes known as Julia Parker Pribuss has lived in Northern California most of her life and resides in Marin County. She received her M.F.A. from the San Francisco Art Institute and her work has been exhibited in galleries both nationally and internationally.
